Badminton, Taekwondo training and dinner with Grandmaster Rajkumar Rai 7th DAN
All those events had taken place in Ashford, Kent (UK) on Sunday, 14 May 2017.
The badminton, in five courts fully occupied without any break, was coordinated by Mrs Bimala Limbu which started at 2 pm and lasted till 5 pm in Stour Centre.
After the badminton, Grandmaster Rajkumar Rai along with Master Rastra Rai, Narendra Rai, Deepak Gurung and other Taekwondo Instructors visited the Sagarmatha Taekwondo Dojang (STKDD) Ashford branch where the club instructors Master Ram Prasad Limbu and Baljit Limbu were waiting for.
The STKDD Ashford branch operates in St Francis Church Hall holding two training sessions in a week from 5 to 7 pm on every Friday and Sunday.
The Grandmaster took over the session from 5.30 pm and shared his experiences, skills and techniques with the students.
One of students, Shahil Makhim, was presented with his Black Belt Kikkiwon Poom certificate by the Grandmaster, for which he had taken his test in last December.
At the end of the Taekwondo session, prior to a group photograph, Shahil Makhim and Popiraj Rai presented Khadas to the Grandmaster representing the students and parents respectively.
The events of the whole day concluded with the dinner in Gurkha Villa, Ashford town.
All available badminton and Taekwondo athletes were in the restaurant by 7.30 pm. The evening had been so homely, friendly and entertaining. Apart from the delicious food served in the restaurant, live songs from Thir Thapa and some volunteers had been the main ingredient to the entertainment!
During the dinner time, the Grandmaster was presented a Khada and a ‘token of appreciation’ trophy, by Master Narendra Rai and Rastra Rai respectively, to express gratitude.
Finally, Ajit Rai, Kamala Limbu and Lokjit Gurung presented Khadas wishing a safe journey and best of luck to Dilliram Rai, Lila Rai and Jiban Limbu (going to Brunei with their battalion) and Bikash Limbu and Grandmaster Rajkumar Rai who would be returning to Singapore and Canada after their vacation respectively.
